Italian beginners’ course

“Nice to meet you”, “to like”, “pleasure” and “joy” in Italian they all translate in one word: Piacere! Approaching a new language can be all of these things and much more.

The course is designed to cover the 4 areas of language learning: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The approach we use focuses on conversation and gives you great opportunities for practicing your speaking skills. Throughout the term we will explore several topics such as greetings, places in town and what we are like. Students will learn to provide basic information about themselves while familiarising with a number of grammatical points.

Lessons are also designed to provide an opportunity to discover various cultural aspects of contemporary Italy.

The course is targeted to absolute beginners and is developed within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (level A1).

Duration of the course: 8 weeks (2 hours a week)

Course fee: $250

  • Andiamo: a virtual tour of Italy through its language, landmarks, culture and traditions!

Italian intermediate course

Every lesson is focused on a different Italian location, from the monuments of Rome to the colours of the Amalfi Coast, from the delicious food of Sicily to the charming canals of Venice.

The course will give students the opportunity to learn Italian while virtually exploring each location through its unique cultural elements, such as food, dialect, architecture and art.

It is aimed at enhancing confidence in the use and understanding of Italian in a variety of situations and scenarios. It is a Content Based Language course inspired by the principles of the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology.

The course is developed for students who speak Italian at an intermediate level. Within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (level B1), this means that this course is ideal for students who: “Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.” Throughout the course, intermediate students will strengthen their speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as enrich their understanding of Italy through its language.

Duration of the course: 8 weeks (2 hours a week)

Course fee: $250
